Copyright & DMCA

DRAFT — designated-agent details must be completed and registered with the U.S. Copyright Office before launch.

Designated agent

Notices of claimed copyright infringement should be sent to our designated agent, registered with the U.S. Copyright Office:

[Agent name]
[Company / address]
[Email]
[Phone]

Filing a takedown notice

A valid notice under 17 U.S.C. §512(c)(3) must include:

  • Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to be infringed;
  • Identification of the infringing material and its location on the service (a fanfiled URL);
  • Your contact information;
  • A statement of good-faith belief that the use is not authorized;
  • A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information is accurate and you are authorized to act for the rights holder;
  • A physical or electronic signature.

Counter-notices

If your content was removed and you believe that was a mistake or misidentification, you can file a counter-notice by writing to the designated agent with the elements required by §512(g)(3) [in-app counter-notice filing is being added]. Unless the claimant files a court action within the statutory window (10–14 business days), removed content is restored.

Repeat infringers

Accounts that repeatedly infringe copyright are terminated in appropriate circumstances, per §512(i). Confirmed infringements carry an account strike; strikes are appealable in-app.

Non-consensual intimate imagery

NCII removal requests are not subject to the copyright counter-notice process above. A dedicated NCII intake with a 48-hour action window is planned but not yet built; until it launches, submit an NCII removal request through our illegal-content notice form — no Fanfiled account is required.
